The Federal Reserve of the US is finally ready to take the necessary actions to fight the increasing inflation in the USA. FOMC members expressed readiness to increase the interest rate 4 to 5 times in 2022. In the January release of the FOMC Meeting Minutes, we found out that the members had a lengthy discussion about reducing the Federal Reserve balance sheet. The spotlight is on the FED Chairman Powell and the FED press conference on Wednesday the 26 of January 2022. Mr. Powell will have to answer questions about the numbers of the potential interest rates hikes in 2022 and the timeline for them. The Chairman will need to address the spike in inflation in the latest data released for the USA, the current economic condition, and the volatilities in the markets.
The liquidity conditions are changing, which forces the institutions’ investors and hedge funds to rearrange their portfolios and take measures to protect themself against the changing environment.
