Last week was an eventful one, to said the least. The House of Representatives passed a 1.9$ trillion relief package, sending the bill to the Senate. It is unlikely that this version of the bill will pass through the Senate. Most likely, after potential discussions and modifications in the Senate, the House will have to vote again on another version of the stimulus package.
Market participants are starting to worry and forecasting inflation spikes in the USA and a potential tapering of FED QE on the horizon. These concerns resulted in a pullback in the stock markets, a bounce in the USD, and a break to the downside in the gold price.
Once again, in the coming week, we have FED chairman Powell’s speech on Thursday the 4th of March, 2021. Will the FED chairman address the markets’ fears of inflations and QE tapering, or focus on the labor market in the speech.
