WEEKLY NOTES FOR 14-20 FEBRUARY 2021.
Both the DXY and the FXCM dollar indexes broke below the bearish flag on the 4H chart and below the daily phase line, signaling the resumption of the bearish trend for the USD. This technical development appears ahead of the release of the FOMC minutes on Wednesday, February 17th, and after a comment from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made on Thursday. Pelosi told reporters that she thinks the House will approve the rescue proposal (1.9T stimulus package) before the end of the month. The Democrats are pushing to get the bill through the Senate before the expiration of jobless benefits on March 14, 2021.
Therefore, next week the focus will be on the FOMC minutes release and any comments from the Biden administration and the Democrats about the stimulus package.
